Interesting story. Katie is the Wilson to my House. We knew that. I'm all in to emergency medicine because I like the skill needed for the diagnosing and the variety of the patients and I'd totally do Diagnostics if there was such a department, because that (and trauma) is the reason I've had my heart set on working in the ER for more than half a decade. She's into oncology. We've been watching that The Cherry Orchard movie of the Chekov play, and day before yesterday (and yesterday also) were sitting in these computer chair things and I pulled over one of those crappy plastic school chairs and we put our feet up on it in synch (not even planning/trying to or anything) just like House and Wilson in 2.16 "Safe". And we both realized that we did it, and there was laughing.

Was trying to help Katie fix her glasses case when it broke, and she was like "This is a crazy picture. Here we are, two of the smartest people in the school, standing in the hallway fiddling with a glasses case." That made me all warm and fuzzy inside. As I very often feel like a blathering idiot next to her, as I'm not used to knowing anybody having friends smarter than me.

"Scuttlebutt has it that you and Thumper messed it up in the parallel." Does that sound like a better euphemism for sex than it is for fighting to anyone else?

Amy Lee in the "Call Me When You're Sober" video looks much better when her hair isn't in the headband. She's still really pretty. I heard she was a bitch, though, from somebody who met her at one of the concerts back before she was big (a concert I really wanted to go to, but it's in the shit part of town across the river and I was like 12, so my mom was like no) which sort of dissapointed me. I'm not a fan of mean people. The music is very obviously different without Ben Moody. And the guy in the video sort of looked like Wolverine (there were also wolves in the video, so maybe he was supposed to). Kinda hot.

Watching some kind of Oprah episode about menopause. (When I first wrote this, I was. Internet got turned off in the middle of my typing last night/this morning without me realizing it, so I'm posting it now.) I just had left the TV on after Cheno was on Leno, and then happened to look up and see Geena Davis and then shortly after a clip of Sela Ward (Who was talking about sex, but I still had it muted, so I don’t know what she said. And I’m really curious.) Which is when I started watching, because yay, Sela. The doctor lady was just like “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it,” it being sex (which I didn’t know at all. Interesting.) and then goes on to mention how masturbation works just fine too if you’re by yourself, and Geena’s all *nods*. I laughed. Yay, mental images. Geena’s hot for being older than my mom. (Less hot now that I’m comparing her to my mom. But still very good looking. I’d do her.)

Kate and her agent friend Marcy on NCIS episode 1.03 “Seadog” act like ex-girlfriends. The cut-short hug and sorta distanced conversation and all.

My spanish teacher pre-cog thing has continued. Last year I had this dream that I had to do CPR on my spanish teacher in the middle of class, the next morning she left school having chest pains (she was fine, though). Had a dream a couple of nights ago, lots of crazy stuff in there, but new spanish teacher sang. That morning, we started talking about how the orphan/poor kids sing the lottery numbers in Spain, and he demonstrated. Pretty nuts.

My hard drive is really full. I've been cleaning stuff and shrinking stuff and saving stuff temporarily to the main computer's hard drive, but I've got to get the stuff off the main computer, and as it stands, I've only got 778MB left. Gonna have to start burning episode type things off of it. I didn't want to because I was afraid that disks would get scratched up and I wouldn't have them anymore, but I'm going to have to chance it. Problem is that the stuff is so big that I'll have to burn them onto DVD disks, which are sorta expensive, especially because I want to make at least one extra copy to hide somewhere as a backup.

Found old speakers and hooked them up to my computer today, so no more watching stuff while trying to bend down far enough so that your headphone cord reaches the back of the computer. Not enough power slots, though, so I had to unplug my scanner. Oh well. I'm pretty sure the scanner doesn't work anymore anyway. Dad insists that it does, but last time I tried it wouldn't.

Amnesty cluster meeting tomorrow. Yay for that. Going to have to convince one of my parents to leave my sister's soccer game early to drive me down there. Not going to be easy. They're just going to want me to be late, but I don't want to be late, as that would be bad.

Lisa Edelstein supposedly went to the emergency room for fun as a child.

Hee. Me too. I sat in the car for hours on a drive down to Oklahoma a few years ago with my father to visit my grandmother, but my major motivating factor for going when none of the rest of my family did was because she was going to have surgery and I would have an excuse to hang around the hospital. While we were waiting for her to get out of surgery, I was exploring the hospital and talking to whomever didn't seem to be doing anything and hanging out down by the ER watching the medivac helicopters land and wheel patients in and stuff. /is a dork

I do stuff like that all the time. Like when I was 13 or so and there was a health day or something at the science center, and there was a guy presenting an automatic external defibrillator there, and I got into a discussion with him about the downpoints of the automatic machine after asking if you were able to cardiovert someone in irregular beat patterns besides ventricular fibrillation with it. He gave me a free t-shirt because I was so annoying (and right).

I'm working tomorrow, doing my volleyball refereeing thing. I always get nervous the first time I do it after it's been a while, because I'm like "Is this the right signal? Was that really a lift, or did I just think it looked like one? That other guy did the same thing earlier, did I call him on it?" and such.

Dad helped me come up with an idea for my theatre arts project/essay thing that I really like. So that's good. Got the polio book I'd been looking for that I needed for my history project/essay thing, now I've just got to read it. Still not sure how good the history idea is.

Tomorrow is our drama club's Star Trek party. Conceived by Katie, our Theatre Arts teacher, and me during class when we were discussing the 40th anniversary. It's going to be pretty freaking awesome. Just for the crazy geek types like us. I brought my (father's) popcorn machine in after school today, which makes really good popcorn, and as long as I don't burn it, that should be cool.

I just love how the three of us were talking at the beginning of class, and we're just all geeking out over which episodes (of TOS, as that's the only one that the teacher really likes) were the best for us to show, and somebody'd mention one, and we'd all be like "Yeah! Because in that one, the scene where. . . ." The teacher ended up picking all episodes that we'd suggested, just because we're cool like that: "Amok Time", which Katie and I were pushing from the beginning, "Mirror, Mirror" because the mirror universe is just the most fun a Vulcan can have without entering Pon Farr, and "City on the Edge of Forever".

The best part of when we were discussing the episodes to show was when we were talking about "Amok Time", because I go "Let's just face it. Pon Farr is the best plot device ever." And we all laughed and laughed. . . .

(Though we were totally pushing "Amok Time" simply for the Kirk/Spock.)

I've got to get through a calculus test before then, though. Which is going to be hard. The teacher puts things on the tests that we don't know how to do, and expects us to use our mathy skills to figure it out. Which would be okay to do as an activity or something, but on a test where you're timed, it's difficult. Add that to the fact that she doesn't really teach worth anything, and does the same 'you've got to figure it out' crap on our homework, and this is going to suck.

Calculus tests = bad. Calculus tests where you can't use the calculator = really bad.

Oh, and my english teacher is an idiot. Yeah. She told us today that she had "a" article for us on Marxism and Arthur Miller, "a" article on something else, and "a" article on a third thing. 3 bloody times in a row, she said this.
She still interrupts us during Socratic seminars, even though the paper she gave us on how to do these seminars (though we've all done them before) said that you weren't supposed to do that. And she lectured us today after the seminar on how it's supposed to be a discussion, not an argument. She said it like she was chastizing us, when there was nothing even resembling an argument going on. Somebody pointed that out (I would have, but I was busy just sitting there, looking at her in a mixture of disbelief and loathing), and she totally ignored her and just kept on lecturing.

Grr.

But still. Yay, marathon of TOS episodes. Yay, Katie and I sitting there and pointing out all the slashy bits.

Must go learn math and write a proposal for my english essay (though it hardly counts as a proposal when she gives us three choices for the essay and has us pick one, there's nothing to propose).

Went back and got the Circut City dvd on (last) Saturday. Was $5 cheaper, actually. So yay for that.

Was sick today. Mostly because I didn't want to go to school. Having had a lot of work I didn't get done.

I still haven't done any of it, because I discovered that 2 of the 3 assignments (chem and math) were on each class's schedule sheet for this term. Neither of which I have. And the George Eliot paragraph? Just haven't done it. It should only take like 30 minutes. So I'm probably going to do it at lunch.

But I do have a chem test tomorrow. And we are supposed to have this paper of bond angles and such memorized. I know that as of Friday, no one in my class did. And I still don't.

98 messages in my inbox. That's what happens when I don't check my mail often enough. Still, it's only been since late Friday night. And, one of the new groups I signed up for won't let me be on daily digest, even though that's what I set it as when I signed up. So I'm getting bazillions of emails that I really don't want.

And some author that is on my author alert on fanfiction.net posted 20 chapters of various stories at once. That accounts for a lot of it. (It's mostly Discworld, which I don't read. So it's not even worth the 20 emails.)

I actually got on to "renew my library books really quickly". I'm probably going to be on for a while catching up with everything.

But first? I'm going to renew my library books. They were due today, and I can't find a couple of them. And I'm 5 cents under the limit where they cut you off until you pay. I'm a master at that. Whenever it goes above $25, I pay it to $24.95. Or I pay the lowest amount I've got on me. Which has been zero lately. Because I kinda lost the little change purse thing I was using as a wallet. I know it's in my 2nd orchestra bag. But I'm not sure where that is.

Speaking of orchestra, Solo and Ensemble is Friday. And I have to leave at like 11am. So I'm going to miss more school.

And we didn't get to practice at all this weekend. Though the piece seems really simple, the problem is the blending and tone and stuff.

I went to see the school's musical on Saturday. And... I forgot what it was called. *Goes to look it up.* Lucky Stiff. That was it.

The musical was funny. The people (singer types) weren't all that good. The pit sucked.

But it was the last show, and the last show is always the fruit show. Where the seniors bring fruit onstage. For example, last year, with Once Upon a Mattress, the girl playing the queen just walked out with a banana at one point. And the king had some pair of spherical fruits in his shirt. And there was a melon on one of the bedposts. But there was no fruit. It turns out the teacher sponsor/director type person yelled at them all and threatened big trouble (and involvement of the principal) if she saw any fruit. So it was rather dull in that aspect.

And one of my mates got totally gay-bashed on Thursday. Like shouting and pushing and stuff. And the school was like "Well, it wouldn't have happened if you hadn't stayed after school." Fucking idiots. So our school is definitely not safe. I used to think it was. But I suppose I used to think there weren't any homosexuals there either.

Urgh, my mom is yelling. She wants me off. Grr.
