Hey, story. I just got called out in the middle of replying to [livejournal.com profile] xx_housecat_xx to help get our new freezer out of the car. Did that. Parents were trying to get a bungee cord around the freezer on the dolly thing so it wouldn't slide off, and my mom was like "the cord is going to break--" and just as she said that, it did so, and smacked her in the arm. Ouch. I was still in the car at that point, having forced my body past the freezer to push it out, and as I was getting out, I noticed that evidently, the cord smacked the back sliding door's window, as it's completely shattered. It was fine until I touched the base of it (really lightly, just so I didn't fall when I misstepped on the curb) as I was getting out, and then I heard it crackling and it started crumbling. So the $400 freezer has become an $800 freezer as we'll now have to get the window replaced.

Was at Best Buy at 9:30 or so with my dad to return this power cord thing for his laptop (we finally think we figured out the problem, yay for that) and there was a little boy in the car next to us. Adorably cute. No more than 4 years old. Alone. In the car. God knows for how long. At least for the entire 10 or 15 minutes we were in there. I noticed him right when I got out of the car and told the manager in the store, but they were like "Yeah, there's nothing we can do." I wanted to stay and wait by the car for the parents or whomever to come out, to chew them freaking out make sure that he would be okay, but we had to leave and the store people said they'd watch.

I think I'm going to call in to the Town Talk thing in the newspaper, where people call and bitch and the newspaper prints it, and be like "To the parents of the little boy left in the car on Saturday at the Best Buy- do you do that in the summer too?"

Because, god, he was little. And really adorable. Smiling at me, and. . . those people make me so mad. He's a gorgeous little boy. Missouri's been all up with the crazy little kid kidnappers lately. What if he were to accidentally unlock the car? Anybody could get in, steal the car, steal him, whatever.

Stupid parents. They shouldn't be allowed to have kids. I'm not adverse to a practical parenting test before allowing children to be born. You're just sterile until you prove that you won't bash your kids' heads in or leave them in cars. You apply for a permit to have a child. Would solve some stuff.

I'm missing a fic.

I handwrote most of one out a while ago, and I'm almost positive I typed it. But I can't find it. Sadness. Must keep looking. I know I've still got the hard copy, but I tend to change at least some, if not a lot of things between the written and the typed versions, and I'd really like to find it. I was working on some writing stuff last night, and that's part of my Four Ways Cuddy Didn't Have Her Baby (And One Way She Did) thing that I might actually finish some day.

Realized last night that I've got one scene that I sort of want to use with two different stories, one for the 4 ways and one slightly tweaked in a longer standalone thing. I think I am just going to use it twice, maybe call the longer thing (of course, I'll never finish it, but still) a tweaked spin-off/backstory for the one piece of the 4 ways. It's not like anybody's probably ever going to see it anyway.

Hold on. I think I remember the filename I saved it as (it was different from my usual filenaming system). Must do search.

Curses. Still can't find it. Grr.
