Bought one of the ugliest bras ever yesterday. It sort of fits, though, which is a plus (it's a band size up and a cup size down from what I really need, but as a result it more or less works), and it was $8.

Seriously, it's lime green with yellow. . . idk, netting over the cups. And the same netting ruffles--those are really going to bug me, but even though they feel weird, they don't bug me, (even though one side curls under funnily) and I'm afraid if I cut them off, they'll get worse.

I've got to find a picture. I really wish I had a picture of my mom's face when I showed it to her. That was priceless.

Sidenote (on topic actually, for once)--I'm on the Fruit of the Loom website looking for a picture of this thing (seriously, as a swimsuit, it might not be as bad, but for bras I prefer, you know, white/tan/black), and for some of these (presumably the front and back clasp ones), YOU CAN BUY JUST ONE CUP. That's probably actually really handy for a lot of people. The chick who plays Alice Cullen in the Twilight movies for one--I googled her naked pictures to make a point and boy, did I think I had any room at all to talk about lopsided breasts (I really don't anymore, but they were worse when I was younger). She's probably got a size difference there. It'd be especially good if you could get one in non-pushup and one that was padded and such so the bra would not only fit but even you out a bit.

So. I've been wanting to go to a Xena convention since I knew what one was. Forever, when I was young (we're talking not-yet-anythingteen), I was "planning" to go to one as soon as I turned 18. Yeah, that happened. And now it's the 15th anniversary, and I'd die to be able to go for the California one because I bet everybody actor-wise will be there. (Though that's what's always been cool about the Xena folk and their conventions. The St. Louis occasional convention tries to shaft you by charging a bazillion dollars and bringing in nobody big, while the Xena cons' general admissions aren't too much higher and generally Lucy and Renee and Hudson Leick, arguably the three top billers, are almost always there.)

Just looked up prices. They've only got the top one there, the all-weekend Gold membership, but still: $474. Add in hotel and airfare (it's a school weekend, so there's no way I could spend 24 full hours each the day before and after driving) and we're talking what, $750 minimum? Seriously, if you don't live in or near Cali, how do you afford it at all? Even at the (if I remember correctly) $50ish general admission, the whole package needed to get there and stay for the weekend is just too much.

But also, here's the thing. That new Starz network show Spartacus that I've been calling Xena 2.0 because it has Rob Tapert, Sam Rami (big showrunner types), and Lucy Lawless? If that's filming, we'll lose the producers and Lucy in one fell swoop. Though I bet they'd take a weekend off and fly themselves back for the 15th, nobody but a few minors are confirmed for the con yet, so who knows?

And now, I show off my icon. Because Olivia Wilde is still the most unfairly beautiful thing on two legs. And even though I haven't seen the G. I. Joe movie (interested because of 9th Doctor, but not interested enough to be bothered to see it before it comes out on DVD), the video spoof Olivia and Alan Tudyk and Hodgins from Bones and many others were in (though the character names made no sense because of the lack of seeing) was a riot.

I hate it when actors on the same show date each other. Well, more I hate it that the producers think that they need to therefore incorporate that relationship into the show. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine did a good job of not doing it (except for the occasional "aliens are messing with our brains so we must all fall in love with people that we have previously shown no attraction to" episode) with Kira Nerys and Julian Bashir, but House? FAIL. Psych hints about it a lot, even though Juliet continues to rebuff Shawn's advances as of now, but you know that unless James Roday and Maggie Lawson break up before they can fit it in, it's prolly going to be fit in at some point.

Gah. Stop it, producers.

You know what I was just thinking about? You can really divide the Cameron opinions in House fandom into three four groups.

Those who hate Cameron's character, those who love Cameron's character, and those who think one or the other but don't care and just think JenMo's hot as all get out.

Those who hate Cameron's character, those who love Cameron's character, those who think one or the other but don't care and just think JenMo's hot as all get out, and the people who dislike her character when she's pining for House or being generally childish, but otherwise like her because she's cute and is really banging Cuddy in her spare time.

I fall squarely in the last category.

Hee, the Buffy episode that my brother is watching? "Bad Girls." He gets to the clubbing scene and I happen to look up and go "Oh, this is 'Bad Girls', isn't it?" And he's like "You haven't even been watching, how do you know?" And I'm all "I recognize this scene."

But then he starts talking about how Buffy usually doesn't dance like that (and demonstrates how she usually dances scarily well) and it like "It's weird. Now Faith comes along and she dances all funny. It's like she's gay."

Me: *covers mouth with hand to stifle sniggering and vehement agreement to his off-hand comment*

Oh, and I opened the window of the [livejournal.com profile] house_daily post with the JenMo/Jesse pictures and hadn't looked at it yet, waiting for it to load by typing this stuff. And so I go to find it, and the little bit of the headlineblurb on the toolbar/start bar thing was "The Happy Couple at the 'Start the New Y-" (you know, and then it cut off). And I open the page, and the picture that it was centered on (because for some reason it started me off about a fifth of the way down the page) was JenMo and some chick. And I laughed. But cried a little inside because it wasn't Lisa E.

I feel bad about how I'm not liking the fact that JenMo and Jesse Spencer got engaged. Because I know that I'm mostly thinking about the characters and how I really dislike Cameron/Chase. But the thing is, my dislike for Cameron/Chase stems mostly from the fact that I don't like Jesse. He's always seemed to me to be very pretentious and self-righteous. Of course, that's only what's been presented in interviews, meaning not entirely accurate, necessarily. Still, though. Everybody on the House boards is like "Yay JenMo and Jesse!" (except they don't call her JenMo, because that was a me thing) and I'm like "err, if it makes them happy, I suppose. . . ."

But I am a horrid bitch when it comes to real-life relationships. I prefer fiction. I enjoy it when I see two people breaking up in the hallway. I like watching their reactions, to see how people respond to something that's stressful and sad for them; the ending of something that they've put work and effort into. That's just my analytical people watching coming out, I suppose, but I'm really cynical when it comes to love. Especially between young people. As in, I don't so much believe in it. I enjoy it in fiction, I'm all "Ooh, OTPsoulmatesyay!" but that's fiction. Love, as the feelings that most would define it as, is a trick that nature plays to get us to reproduce, a mingling of biological and evolutionary drive and chemical signals. I don't deny that the feelings exist, and that they're pleasurable (be they romantic or platonic love), but I sort of think they're hollow.

I think that there can be an emotional and intellectual connection, and that's what makes real love. But with these random teenagers at school and such, there's not that. I don't even think you have to have -- to turn it completely in a romantic direction -- the desire to shag each other silly at all. But that's what's considered love, particularly at the young adult stage, and that's why the relationships don't last. Ever wonder why you stay "together" with your best mate a lot longer than with your boy/girlfriend? It's because there's more than a physical attraction.

I dunno. Interpersonal relationships are tricky.

Hee, this went from JenMo/Jesse eww to ragging on teenage love and the reason marriages/relationships fail. Sort of. Yay, tangents.
