Okay. The joke on the Reba season premier when Kyra came in the door? Bad. Everyone was cheering a lot, and yay for that because I really like Scarlett Pomers, but the joke? I didn't think it was good. Reba asked where Kyra had been (obviously a reference to her not being on the show at all for a lot of the last season) and Kyra (in typical sarcastic teenage fashion) said that she had been out getting something to eat (obviously a reference to the fact that the reason she wasn't on the show for a bunch of last season was because she went to treatment for anorexia).

I commend Scarlett Pomers, especially if the joke was her idea, for being able to laugh at it. And you only would understand it if you knew why she was gone, but I thought the joke was sort of in bad taste. And this is totally me being way more sensitive than most people would be because I've been there, but it was sort of perpetrating the stupid belief that all anorexics need to get better is just to eat.

I suppose it was just like making a joke about any other kind of condition, but you usually wouldn't make one of those if one of the actors had the condition, would you?

And they just made another joke about it. The two times so far in the past 30 minutes that she's been on the show she just walked through, the second time simply saying that she was going to get something to eat and Van said "See you next year." (Which was sort of funny.) So the only two times she's been on the show in. . . 35 minutes now have been simply for dumb 'Scarlett's been gone' jokes. Leaving out the fact that I think that the first joke was bad, she just hasn't had anything else to say in the entire episode.

Assuming she was behind the lines (which one would hope she was - I suppose I underestimate peoples' ability to be insensitive), I say good for her, because that's pretty fucking hilarious of her. If not...eh. Pretty tasteless.

I won't even recount the numerous tasteless jokes I've made about myself. OMG WHAT IF THERE'S A ______ PERSON (insert adjective that basically means "some kind of defective" there) HERE?! "Uh...I am one?" Only once has that not shut someone up. Ironically, I was quoting a movie at the time. "THAT'S SO OFFENSIVE." "Uh. 1a. I'm gay, 1b. you're not, and 2. I'm quoting Bring It On." *facepalm* But I digress. Maybe I just have too much faith in people not being seriously influenced by a couple of one-liners.

...also, Reba's still on? I did not know that.

Well, I'm all for people laughing at themselves. I'm just not a fan of people laughing at other people when the person you're laughing about is right there. Unless you're laughing about republicans. Because that's fine.

And I don't think most people would be seriously influenced. I just know a couple of whores (including one that was pretending to be a school counselor) that think that all you need is a good meal and you're cured of all eating problems. So I was a little offended, but I read way farther into it than everyone else would have.

But I only really object to it if she wasn't behind it. If it's cool with her, that's fine with me; it was a joke on a comedy show and it worked.

...also, Reba's still on? I did not know that.

Actually, neither did I. Old reruns are on at like 5pm or so here, and my brother and sister watch those, and so somehow they evidently knew that it was going to be on tonight last night. So they watched it. And by extension as I was in the front room waiting for the football game to start and on the laptop, so did I.
