Managed to do that almost-passing-out thingie while reffing tonight. Once I could have written off as a fluke, I locked my knees or whatever, but twice in 6 weeks for no apparent reason is a little freaky.
Got to play in the first game, though, as they were short. Was fun. I didn't do overly well at first, but had like 8 serves in a row at one point (which isn't anywhere near my record, but for not having done it in more than a year. . .). My knees hurt, however, as I didn't have my kneepads and yet I insist on diving for the ball.
Yay, lasagna for dinner. Yum.
Edit: *drops lasagna on pants* Oops.

Haha. That reminds me trying to eat my meat pie last night. First I took the top off (as I usually do), then I tried to bite the side of it, but it was a little overcooked, so the whole thing flung up and hit me in the face. My nose went in it and everything. Funny visual, but all I could smell afterwards was mince and tomato sauce. And I dropped it all over myself and the keyboard. Must use bib next time. And must remember to not read Cam/Cuddy fics while eating food, as it causes me to forget all my table manners. Seriously, I was getting this pie everywhere but in my mouth.
I do so LOVE lasagne. I hope it was very very yummy. I am having fish tonight. Usually I hate that fishy flavour, but my mum has this awesome way of cooking it so it doesn't even taste like fish. I thought it was chicken when she first gave it to us. It's yummy. [/random food story sharing]

LOL.

Ahh, indeed. It does at that. You're all "Yay, lesbians!" and the food goes *flysplat*. My dropping of the lasagna happened when I found a Susan/Delenn fic from Babylon 5 (which is a pairing I love but there are practically no fics of), and I was all with the cheering, and then it slips off my fork.

Ooh. Wow. I didn't use to eat fish, but now I do. But so very rarely, like maybe 3 times in the several months since I decided to eat it again. Because I only really like tuna and salmon as everything else seems to have the fishyness. You should ask her how she cooks it. Maybe I can try it.

Date: 2006-10-03 02:39 am (UTC)I can actually play volleyball! ...Sort of.
The only fish I'd eaten in the past, say, five years is the stuff you get from the fish 'n' chip shop. The chips and all that are nice, but the fish itself is yuck. Then my mum started giving us this fish! I DID ask her how she cooks it, but she told me it's the fish itself which tastes so good. She bought it because the lady at the shop told her it doesn't have that fishy flavour. It's oh-so-yummy. Must remember to get the name of it. Oh yeah, she puts lemon on it, though.
Because I only really like tuna and salmon
I've never had salmon before, but yay, tuna! I forgot all about tuna. I eat that quite a lot. I especially love getting it in the little tins with all the different flavours and stuff. My current favourite is sundried tomato and onion. But plain old tuna in brine is awesome.
Heh, this is a strange topic of conversation.
Grr, my brother just comes in and is all "Hey! What are you doing?!" and I'm like "*rolls eyes* I'm DANCING, what does it look like?" He obviously wanted to play. Oh well. Too bad.

Date: 2006-10-04 05:11 am (UTC)Hee, me too. I'm pretty good, it just takes me a while to get warmed up. I can serve and spike the ball like nobody's business, but passing and such takes me pretty much the entire first game to get my head into it. After that, I'm good.
Must remember to get the name of it. Oh yeah, she puts lemon on it, though.
That'd be good. Cool with it being the fish and not the cooking, that makes it easier as long as I can find that type of fish. I'll have to suggest it to my parents for dinner some time. I know my parents put lemon on their fish too, but I don't know what kind it is either.
I especially love getting it in the little tins with all the different flavours and stuff.
Ooh. I don't think I've ever seen that. I buy mine at the cheap grocery store, Aldi, and pretty much all they've got there is one kind-plain old tuna in water. If you're feeling really fancy, sometimes there is tuna in oil, but that can't be as good for you.
I'll have to see if they have that at other grocery stores. If it's not too much more expensive, I might try it.
Heh, this is a strange topic of conversation.
Indeed. Yay, fish.

When we played it at school I was the only one on my team who could serve the ball. I was like "Hee. I can and you can't. My, how the tables have turned."
Ooh. I don't think I've ever seen that
Really? Whoa. And they're all the same price as plain old tuna, too. We can get them for, like, a dollar sometimes. Maybe it's an Australian thing.
Hee. Brothers. Grr.
Oh, DON'T get me started. Mine has taken to being smelly as of late. I feel like hosing him down sometimes. NO regard for personal hygeine, that one. [/holding grudge against brother for scratching her DVD]

Ahh! Mine too! Well, suppose mine's always been smelly. The thing that gets me, though, is that for some reason, he refuses to wear underwear. Eww.

Oh, I know. It's funny, because he watches pretty much all of the same TV shows I do. My whole family does, I get into a show and pretty soon my brother's checking out the DVDs from the library and my sister is pointing out shippy bits. Yay for Xena!lesbians, though. That's love.

That's awesome. My brother watches House and he likes to sneak into my room (another thing that really pisses me off) and steal my season one DVDs. My mum and I also spent two days last summer watching the whole of season one, so that was great. And now when I can finally buy season two we will do the same. She likes House. My sister is only seven, so she doesn't really get into it (though she loves the part in Mob Rules, I think it is, where House is playing along with the song on his iPod, before Vogler comes in and ruins it. Cracks her up every time) and my dad has never watched it before, though I reckon he would like it if he did. Other than that, my family don't follow the same TV shows as me. Although, I DID get my mum hooked on CSI. She spent a couple of days watching my season one and two DVDs. And she likes to watch Cold Case sometimes, though I stopped watching that a while ago.
Yay for Xena!lesbians, though. That's love.
I haven't watched Xena since I was about six or seven. I had major love for Xena (the little kid kind, where you're all like "yay for Xena! I wanna be like Xena when I grow up!"), and I remember bawling my eyes out in that episode where she dies. Then I was happy when she came back to life. Or whatever. I don't remember much. Xena!lesbians? Interesting.

Hee, I love that bit too. My sister is 10, and rather slashy. She'll do this little pointed look thing if we're watching TV and a subtext bit comes on, the same as my slashy friends and I do. Which is cool. When she's not being whiny and annoying.
You know, I think I prefer CSI fanfiction to the actual show. Which isn't actually that strange, though, as many shows I'm like that, but this one to a greater extent. Grissom annoys me. A lot.
I watched Cold Case occasionally, but I seem to think that it was on at the same time as something else I watched, so I didn't get to see it much.
I had major love for Xena (the little kid kind, where you're all like "yay for Xena! I wanna be like Xena when I grow up!"), and I remember bawling my eyes out in that episode where she dies.
Oh, me too. Even when I rewatched it when I bought the DVDs June before last, I was all "And now Gabrielle's all alone! *cry*"
Yeah, she actually died like 6 times. And every time, the episode was very Xena/Gabrielle.
Hell, the whole show was X/G. Very obviously. Like considered canon, obviously. For example: in the uber bits? (One type of the 3 kinds of Ubers on there, the reincarnation ones), there was all this talk about soulmates and how Xena and Gabrielle were meant to be together through all eternity. They had switched actors/bodies, Xena was in Joxer's body and Gabrielle was in her own, so for the first part of that bit it was het but slash because it was X and G's souls, but in the second episode with those characters, they got switched back to their "right" bodies, and there was cuddling and lines like "No matter how hard Ares has tried, he's never been able to split us up." "And he never will."
And the make-out session in the last episode. And the one in season two. And the girlfriend references and how Gabrielle was the 'father' of Xena's baby and "Looks like you got your daughter back." "Our daughter." and . . . well, you get the picture. Xena is definitely on my list of top shows ever. Even before I grew up and went "OMG, they're lesbians. Cool!"
Yeah, when I was 6 or 7, I was this lame little geeky kid who pretty much didn't speak the same language as everybody else (as in kindergarden they were all "Yay, Power Rangers" and I was all "And the subtext and power themes in A Wrinkle in Time were amazing. Have I told you about how I like brain surgery? Neuroblastomas are fun!") and I thought Xena was the coolest thing ever.

Date: 2006-10-06 06:12 am (UTC)I used to very much, but I think she's gone all hormonal or something. She's very much the opposite of me at that age; she's all clothes and earrings and painting her toenails to match her outfit and hanging out with loads of friends, when I was like soccer (which she does too, but my league was a lot more serious than hers) and volleyball and Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine and other book type things. Which is really weird. She's very much like the type of

And he's not all that good at acting. Which, honestly, I think is an important attribute for an actor. (Though he's better than the guy from CSI: Miami. Everybody's better than him.)

I'm pretty sure that I began to get it towards the end of the series; it ended in 2001, I believe. And by then I was already all up with the slash.

Date: 2006-10-06 06:20 am (UTC)So is my sister. She's into all that girly stuff and chasing boys (at SEVEN years old, I might add) and she's really outgoing, whereas I was all shy and innocent and "look, I got another Merit certificate!" and "let's play horsies!".

I'd have to say acting ability is important for actors, too! Lol.

Aww. I want a horse. The couple of times that I ever rode when I was younger, I was pretty good at it, but I only did some random ones and a week long girl scout thing once. It's so expensive out here, as I'm in lovely old suburbia and there's really only one ranch type thing anywhere close, and it's a lot of money if you don't actually own the horse. I imagine it's loads of money even if you did own the horse, though, for food and all.
That guy makes me want to throw things.
Truly. How did he ever get an acting job anywhere? The people in the school play this year are better than him and the people in the school play this year suck!

I have wanted one for a long long time.

All I've ever done is trail rides and one lesson. I was told I was good at it too, but I haven't done it in so long!

Yeah that's the reason my parents said no. That, and we don't have the room. Keeping a horse at a stable would definitely cost more, so they said no =(
I live in a suburb that borders all paddocks and hills and things and there are horsies in a paddock behind my backyard, so yay! They often come to the fence and I feed them all my mum's carrots XD

Date: 2006-10-08 12:05 am (UTC)Oh, wow. I didn't do anything nearly so cool for my 16th. We went to the Shakespeare festival a month or so earlier sort of for my birthday, though, which was cool. That sounds amazing. I think they'd probably have to push me out of the plane, though. It's horridly expensive, though, yes?
Do schools down by you go to NZ often? Is it like a regular school trip? Here, smack dab in the middle of the US, we don't get to go anywhere really (especially not in public school) because it's so far.
but I haven't done it in so long!
Me either. Probably not in at least 5 years.

Date: 2006-10-08 12:13 pm (UTC)Oh yes. I'm one of those people who gets all excited and wants to do it when they're on the ground, but then hesitates when the moment comes. I'm one of those crazy people who giggle and scream and bounce, too. But being scared is the best part, I reckon. Adrenalin is awesome. It will be a tandem dive anyway, so I will be strapped to the instructor, and they will probably count to three and jump whether I want to or not! But I will. And most places record the jump with a video camera so you can take it home, too.
And yes - rather expensive. The place I'm looking at charge $500 if it's your first time, but then each dive after that gets cheaper and cheaper until you're experienced enough to jump on your own. That's why it's a birthday thing! Mind you, with all this NZ business, I have a feeling I may have to wait until later in the year or my next birthday to skydive, because I am busy saving for that, and my parents are going to have to help me pay for it as it is.
Do schools down by you go to NZ often? Is it like a regular school trip?
I'm not sure about other schools, but my school holds a ten-day NZ Tour every two years. It's possible schools over in the eastern states do it as well, because they're much closer to NZ, but I'm pretty sure it isn't a regular thing for schools to do over here, because I am on the west coast, and that's quite a distance to tavel. There are other trips my school holds, too, like a trip to Italy for all the students who take Italian classes (I'm pretty sure that one isn't annual, though.), and a trip over to Melbourne (in Victoria, an eastern state. Sorry if you knew that already) every two years for netballers, footballers and the school debating team. The NZ trip is by far the best. It's an adventure trip *nods*
Although Italy would be awesome. But you have to really commit yourself to your Italian studies, and I dropped it after year eight. That, and it would be waaay more expensive than NZ. I mean, the plane trip is, like, 20-24 hours! NZ is only about six or seven, I think.
Be like "Hi, here are some cookies. Can I ride your horse?"
Lol. I have only seen one the owner once, because the house itself is much further up the paddock, kinda hidden among trees. The most we usually see of them is a couple of little lights in the distance at night time. Oh! Oh! Oh! But that one time I saw the owner he was on a tractor spraying the paddock closest to us (which I affectionally refer to as 'my' paddock, seeing as I spend a lot of time wandering through it, and through all his other paddocks) and I told mum I was going to hop the fence and nag him about his horses and such, but she said no. Then I had a nightmare about him, in which he caught me in his paddock and tried to kill me :|
I don't think the horses are broken in, though. But whatever. They are quite friendly, and they recognise me as the bringer of carrots and occasionally juicy green grass (which I rip from the backyard when my dad isn't looking) and they come down whenever I pop my head up at the fence.

Yeah, our Spanish kids go to Costa Rica, the French ones to France, and the German ones to Germany every couple of years. I'm not going to get to go, though, because I can't do it the summer they're going to Costa Rica and I have no money. Other than that, though, we tend to stay at least within the country. Little trips, driving usually, no more than 10 hours or so for band and things, but that's all. Nothing I'm in ever gets to go anywhere.

Hee, your suburbia is much different from ours. There's maybe 4 meters between my house and the next. We're squished right up on top of each other.

Oh, the aforementioned house isn't part of my suburb. In my suburb the houses are right next to each other, but they're spaced out quite nicely and everyone has decent-sized backyards. Unless they are silly and build a huge house on a small block of land. But we were lucky to get the block of land we did. It's a good size.
