My AP scores made me cry.

Because I was expecting to get 2s in both. And got a 4 in U.S. History and a 5 in psych.

But I refused to open the envelope, saying that I'd open it when I needed to send it to somebody and not a minute before. So my dad grabbed it and opened it. And looked at it. And asked me "What do these 1s mean? Because it says here, Psychology -- 1, and U.S. History -- 1."

And I was like "That means I failed." And I was okay with that. Because I had been telling myself the whole time that I was going to get a two in both. (I do that a lot. Tell myself I'm going to fail, so if I actually fail, it's what I was expecting, and if I don't, it's a pleasant surprise.)

And then he hands me the paper. And I screamed. And then started crying.

That's my story.

So if one is a fail, then four and five are good, yes?

Forgive me, in Australia we use a different system. Well, one is still failing; level one here is like when a pre-primary kid writing a squiggle and tell you it says 'cat'.
(My sose teacher gave me a level one in my REPORT. I hate that bastard, he grades me because he hates me. And I swear my grades have gone down since the homophobic bastard found out I was a lesbian.)

But I generally get level fours/level four-fives, so I'm guessing that it's a different system.

Well, this is a totally different thing. We generally have A, B, C, D, and F. A is 100%-90%, B is 89%-80%, and so on until F is 59% and below.

The AP test is supposed to be equivalent to the college final for whatever subject, and the test basically determines whether you get college credit for an advanced class you took in high school.

5s and 4s means you would have gotten an A on the college final, a 3 is a midrange B (which is the lowest score any college will take for credit; many only take 4s or 5s, some only 5s), a 2 is a low B and 1 is C (I think -- I'm not quite sure about the lower grades' equivalencies)

So on this scale, yeah, 4s and 5s are good.

LOL

I googled SOSE. That's studies of society and environment? We don't have that. Cool.

Ah, okay.
Lucky bastards, we use levels (It's called 'OBE' - Outcomes based education) and it's much more confusing than actual grades.
One of the good points is that it's supposed to reduce competition between students, but as long as we're stil getting some kind of grades, of course we're going to compete... >.>

Yeah. Everyone else calls it S&E, but for some reason I use SOSE. Probably cause it sufficiently pisses off my teacher, although he can't do anything about it.
Not cool, unless you mean cool that you don't have it - I HATE it.

Actually, lots of people seem to like it; it's like Geography, Economics, Politics, History, etc.
I've never really liked it, but I HATE the teacher, like I said before.

Still, next year, I never have to do it again! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD

Any kind of grades are going to cause competition within the students that actually care.

Geography, Economics, Politics, History

You know, I've never taken a geography class. Unless you count them making us learn all the states in 4th grade.
I think I would have liked politics had I had an okay teacher. That might be the same reason you don't like the class.

Still, next year, I never have to do it again!

That's really cool. I could be done with spanish, math, history, and science now, but I'm taking all of them again just for more credit and so I can take more of these AP test things.
