Just look at the admiration, love and belief in Merlin’s eyes when he looks at Arthur. Can you even IMAGINE the emotions Merlin will go through when Arthur finally finds out about his magic and fully accepts him for everything that he is? I’m talking about after Arthur deals with the personal conflict that will inevitably come with learning the full truth about Merlin. The moment when Merlin finally realizes that after having spent so long hiding his true self from the person he cares the MOST about and has this EPIC destiny with, he can at last be 100% open and honest with him. The relief and deep reassurance he will feel knowing that this unwavering faith he’s had in Arthur was worth it all along will be overwhelming. I mean, the way Merlin ALREADY views Arthur…the belief, unshakable loyalty and fondness that he has for him (and this is without Arthur knowing about his magic)… I cannot even comprehend the joy that will result from total acceptance from Arthur. Sure, Merlin has this strong faith that Arthur WILL end Uther’s war on magic and be accepting of magic, but that moment when it becomes absolutely certain and personal for him…it’s just going to be so beautiful to see the look in Merlin’s eyes. <3
Only one bit of disagreement, and it's barely tangential to the point. I'm firmly of the opinion that Arthur does already know, and has from almost the beginning:
The Mark of Nimueh -- Arthur: "Merlin is a wonder, but the wonder is that he's such an idiot. . .
Among a host of other bits of evidence, it was cemented by the way Arthur tackled Merlin when he was about to confess to the Witchfinder in season two.
Boy knows. If they try to backtrack and make him angry or anything but pretend!shocked when Merlin finally tells him, I think I'll be pissed, because there's no way.
But yes. So much all of the above. I'm imagining this scene where Merlin tells him, and Arthur's just like "Well, duh," and Merlin has that look in his eyes, and I will LOL and probably cry and fall even farther in love with those boys.
