commotiocordis: (DS9)
Spoilers (if written vaguely at least at the beginning) for "Lauren", Paget Brewster/Emily Prentiss' last Criminal Minds episode.

I was content to have one last dose of JJ/Emily in this episode. I mean, beyond content, really, as I didn't even know JJ was coming back, so that was a ridiculously pleasant surprise.

I could never have expected it to be this brillllllllliant. Despite all the Emily het (I've been strongly in the Prentiss-is-at-least-bi camp for years), there was so much more than I expected (even without considering that I expected zero) and it was fabulous:
JJ bring brought in as someone who can "shed some light on Emily's past" and all the <3 <3 and then JJ being the point person at the hospital (like a family member would be) and then JJ'S FACE when she was hugging Reid and then being the first person (and longest shot) laying down the rose and my heart was so happy.

AND THEN THE VERY ENDING. I'd called that that was how they were going to play her departure a few episodes back, BUT JJ'S ROLE OH MY GOD. I literally threw both arms up in the air and just said "IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING" over and over again.
.

PLEASE FEMSLASH GODS by which I obviously mean authors MAKE THE MOST OF THIS AWESOME OPPORTUNITY THAT HAS BEEN AFFORDED YOU. I MEAN JESUS, JJ IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO KNOWS EMILY IS ALIVE.

I want
  • Drama and romance and concern and Emily sneakily sending JJ's kid presents even when she can't talk to JJ, just to let her know that she's still alive.

  • Sekrit rendezvous in romantic places (with disguises!) where they plot to finally take down all the bad guys so Emily can stop running all the time,

  • but also talk (news about the team, about ~feelings, etc.) because JJ is the one person who knows pretty much everything

  • except for that Emily was in love with her and pulled away when JJ got pregnant because of le jealousy, which Emily finally reveals because she feels safe seeing as how she's going to run away to another country the next day.

  • Emily not showing up to the next scheduled meeting after that because she's a wimp, and JJ flipping out but not wanting to actively look for her lest it tip people off, so just freaking out in silence

  • Awkwardness when they finally meet up the next time and only business talk until JJ puts her hand over Emily's and the Magic Power of Affection fixes things so we return to our Regularly Scheduled Development of Sexual Tension: Now With Confirmed Reciprocation!

  • A final meeting where there's no time to even acknowledge the sexual tension that's been building up over the past year before turning around and being BAMFs and shooting folk.

  • Them winning and dramatic, post-violence, shaky "it's over" relief kisses.

AND THEN AN AWESOME SEQUEL because this is always what I really want in fics: How do they deal with what comes next, when they go back to "real life"?
  • Emily is pretty much a cat lady; does she remember how to have a relationship that's not for spyage purposes?

  • Contrast between her loving the Doyle kid but not wanting to help raise him (as that would cement her fake relationship with Ian) and her behavior with JJ's kid.

  • Does Em go back to work somewhere?

  • How cool is JJ's job with the fact that she just went AWOL to help Emily shoot bitches?

  • How does Emily deal with the fact that despite all her obvious enemies being gone, she could be exposing JJ and the kid to all kinds of danger because of her past?

  • JJ isn't really a fighter type (IIRC, she wasn't even a field agent for ages); is there fallout from having to help Emily kill bitches? Or does she not really react to it, and is disconcerted because of that?

Basically, part one is mandatory, the sequel is more an excuse to work in the sexing, since part one is plotting itself out pretty PG-13 in my head.

I SO WISH I COULD WRITE THIS but I know I'll get about two pages in and school will pick up and I'll never be able to get back into the swing of it, so I really hope the femslash fandom gestalt sort of picks up on how cool it could be to tack a spy thriller on to the end of this episode and makes it happen.

Is it just me, or was Emily totally co-mothering JJ's baby just there at the end? Something about her position and body language there, how she was standing more from JJ's angle than the team's, made it seem like she was presenting the baby to the team along with JJ. And the look between the two of them when Morgan asked to hold the baby felt like a permission asking/granting. Plus, hooray for Gina Torres.

In other news. Finishing changing up a discussion board item I posted for political science into my "Intro to University Life" final paper. Started studying for my mythology test last night, actually, as well as begun converting the post into a paper, so yay for that.

Watching Top Chef. I betcha that nobody's going home this week. Because it's the Christmas episode and because they all worked together when the stuff in the fridge spoiled.

Seriously, what kind of prize is a copy of some no-name chef's book? Sometimes they get trips, or new sets of expensive knives or other kitchen gear. A book? Fail.

Edit: Called it. No elimination.

Watching this week's ER episode.

DOCTOR COBURN FTW. I love her anytime, but when she gave that look to the intern that asked if she was sure that it wasn't a twin? Priceless. And idk if it's just me, but something about her hair or makeup or whatever and she looks even prettier than usual. I wish to read Coburn slash. Come to think about it, I think I wrote the beginnings of a Coburn/Cuddy fic pre-first hard drive crash. Ahh, techfail.

Also, Kirsten Vangsness and Paget Brewster are friends on Facebook. LOL. That's far more fun than it should be, looking at who celebrities are friends with. Allison Janney and Melissa Fitzgerald (Carol on WW), for example, as well as not only Janel Moloney but her sister Meegan (who's an LA lawyer, I've found). And how Joshua Malina's profile picture is a comic.

And now I'm watching the Psych Christmas episode (again) rather than study for my 3:45 polisci final. (Seriously? Saturday final? At least mine's not at 8, like my roommate's was. Jeeze.)

The first Criminal Minds episode I really watch now that I've decided that it's my new fandom?

All up with the gay. Ace. Femslashyest couple (possibly femslashyest on TV) that not many people seem to have caught on to? JJ/Emily.

Plus, I find myself really liking Morgan/Garcia. Because I love Garcia, and Morgan is hotsauce. Plus, it's the weird hunky guy/nerdy girl pairing that would so rarely happen in real life that you can't help but root for it, you know?

And in other news, I need to stop downing so much water when I sit here at the computer right by the faucet. I hate having to stop what I'm doing to run to the bathroom. And I drink so much, just because why not, so it's seriously like twice an hour. Gah.

Going out to this cabin we rented for the weekend at a state park a bit aways from our house, so probably won't be back until lateish Friday (lol, weekend that is not, but I've got too much work to not do to stay the entire time). Happy Thanksgiving to those that have it, and gorge yourself anyway to those that don't.

Why I've decided I have to start watching Criminal Minds: Kirsten Vangsness.

I'd never really liked her character in the few bits of episodes I've been in the room for (my mom and sister watch it) simply because I felt that Garcia was a pretty blatant rip-off of Abby from NCIS.

But like Abby, she gets to wear tons of amazing clothes: "I wore earrings that were giant babies today. And a sundress with what appeared to be people selling cows. And a sweater with mirrors on it." (1)

And gets really exited about them: "I have new costumes! Ohhhhh do I ever. This week I got to wear yellow, orange, pink, green, black, lime green, blue, white, red, and fuchia. All at the same time." (2)

Isn't afraid to talk about her weight: (3), (4)

Is a vegetarian: "Change is scary because with it comes a side order of the unknown. And why is it I always at first think the side order will be terrifying? Like bacon? I’m a vegetarian, so bacon would be a terror one for me. My first thought is usually fearful, my second thought is usually much more brave. The unknown side dish could be pudding. So let’s all be brave and know that I will be eating some change with a side of pudding." (5)

Speaks in metaphor: see above.

Flirts with fellow cast members (and their characters): "Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss), said, 'Garcia is Kirsten... I can't speak highly enough of her. I think I have a crush on Garcia.' Vangsness laughed while responding, 'I think I have a crush on Prentiss. Watch out for that storyline in season three!'" (6)

Is very good friends with Shemar Moore and isn't afraid to say that he's crazy hot: (Just about every post, LOL)

Has a girlfriend who went to the MS walk (in honor of Shemar's mother) with her, and mentions said girlfriend like it's nothing: "Saturday my girlfriend and I (Happy Late National Coming Out Day) bought bikes for the ride." (7)

And finally, not only doesn't cross picket lines, but marches in them: "Today I had planned to write my long -awaited blog, but there are only so many hours in the day you see...and I'm going walk the picket lines with the Writers Guild today, like I did yesterday and the day before that." (8)

This is why she is win.

That is all.
