Jul. 5th, 2006 01:49 amI am an idiot.
I just spent about 20 minutes checking dates because I wrote a fic in October of 2005 that mentioned spoilers from a Feb. 2005 episode and I couldn't figure out how that would have worked. I thought I had backdated the post accidently, because how on earth could I have written a fic in October based on something aired in February.
Somehow, I got it in my head that October came before February. I think perhaps because it is now July, and were I to go directly forward in time, October would come first.
Or perhaps because it is late at night/early in the morning. And my mother seems to have brought home a stomach bug from the class she was teaching last week and the week before.
Or maybe I'm just an idiot. I'm leaning toward a combination of the aforementioned factors.
On a different note, this last fic I read makes two good Susan Ivanova/Talia Winters fics I've read in a row. Which is cool, as when I was first perusing the web looking for fics of that particular shippage persuasion, I read (or started to read more likely) probably 8 badfics. Not even badfics as in stilted dialogue, not enough description (like mine are), but badfics as in horrendous grammar (not knowing the difference between it's and its; too, to, and two; and you're and your -- that stuff just kills me. Look it up if you're not sure!) which is an absolute turn-off for me.
The laptop (my father's, but every once and a while, and much more often recently, I'll use it) that I'm on needs a new power cord. It's plugged in, but I've got to wiggle the connection where the cord meets the computer and have the cord draped over the screen so it's in the right position and will charge. I think the connection is simply going out. It was getting progressively worse, and for a while a few hours ago it didn't work at all, but I squeezed the metal female end connector bit a little tighter and it began to work again, but under the aforementioned conditions. So that's not good.
Going to the gym and then orchestra tomorrow. Somewhere in there my dad's got an appointment to talk to somebody about this artificial pancreas thing he wants to go on. The optometrist telling him his eyes were shit really made him crack down on this stuff. Which is good. I'd be worried, though--this thing he's been looking at measures his blood sugar and automatically gives him enough insulin to cover it--what if it gets a computer glitch or a bad reading or something and decides to pump its whole arsenal in? T'would be bad.
Internet was down again until about two hours ago. I wonder if that was because a firework hit something important at the main place. I would laugh.
