I am an idiot.

I just spent about 20 minutes checking dates because I wrote a fic in October of 2005 that mentioned spoilers from a Feb. 2005 episode and I couldn't figure out how that would have worked. I thought I had backdated the post accidently, because how on earth could I have written a fic in October based on something aired in February.

Somehow, I got it in my head that October came before February. I think perhaps because it is now July, and were I to go directly forward in time, October would come first.

Or perhaps because it is late at night/early in the morning. And my mother seems to have brought home a stomach bug from the class she was teaching last week and the week before.

Or maybe I'm just an idiot. I'm leaning toward a combination of the aforementioned factors.

On a different note, this last fic I read makes two good Susan Ivanova/Talia Winters fics I've read in a row. Which is cool, as when I was first perusing the web looking for fics of that particular shippage persuasion, I read (or started to read more likely) probably 8 badfics. Not even badfics as in stilted dialogue, not enough description (like mine are), but badfics as in horrendous grammar (not knowing the difference between it's and its; too, to, and two; and you're and your -- that stuff just kills me. Look it up if you're not sure!) which is an absolute turn-off for me.

The laptop (my father's, but every once and a while, and much more often recently, I'll use it) that I'm on needs a new power cord. It's plugged in, but I've got to wiggle the connection where the cord meets the computer and have the cord draped over the screen so it's in the right position and will charge. I think the connection is simply going out. It was getting progressively worse, and for a while a few hours ago it didn't work at all, but I squeezed the metal female end connector bit a little tighter and it began to work again, but under the aforementioned conditions. So that's not good.

Going to the gym and then orchestra tomorrow. Somewhere in there my dad's got an appointment to talk to somebody about this artificial pancreas thing he wants to go on. The optometrist telling him his eyes were shit really made him crack down on this stuff. Which is good. I'd be worried, though--this thing he's been looking at measures his blood sugar and automatically gives him enough insulin to cover it--what if it gets a computer glitch or a bad reading or something and decides to pump its whole arsenal in? T'would be bad.

Internet was down again until about two hours ago. I wonder if that was because a firework hit something important at the main place. I would laugh.

If there is any Aida/Amneris fic out there, I want it. I've been looking and cannot find any.

What I was thinking about when I was at Aida last week was that all the musicals (the two examples in my head being Aida and Wicked) go as such: Girl A loves Boy. Girl A and Girl B are friends. But Boy likes Girl B. Boy, Girl A, and Girl B angst over dilemma, Girl B eventually gets Boy.

Why don't the musicals go this way: Girl A and Girl B are friends. Boy sorta likes Girl A (relationship for status purposes [Wicked] or arranged [Aida] or something), makes her think he likes her a lot. Boy really likes Girl B, and is trying to court her on the side. Boy angsts over whether he picks girl for status or girl for love. Meanwhile, Girl A and Girl B run off together.

Just for a new twist. Because lots of them tend to follow the same pattern.

*freaks out*

Ivanova/Delenn fic. Oh. My. God. I could have sworn I was the only person in the world that shipped them.

*is excited*

Okay, so now that I've finished it, it was a bit more friendshippy than not, (it had Delenn/Sheridan too) but there was a kiss. (And spoilers for some episode or other I haven't watched yet, gack! I'm actually trying not to spoil myself too much as I watch this. I was spoiled vaguely for "Divided Loyalties", but that was it so far beyond random names I can't yet place in various fic.)

So anyway. If anyone happens to find any Ivanova/Delenn that doesn't spoil too badly past season 2, send it my way.

I just read Imzadi het fic smut. So yeah. It was pretty hot too. Found it randomly while glancing at the eljay of somebody with a really cool Ivanova/Talia icon.

Cool.

It's way too late for me to be awake still considering my dad wants to go to the gym at 8:30.

I'm thinking of swapping out some of my icons. To throw in a Trek and/or a Babylon 5 and/or a West Wing. But I'm attatched to all of them. It's so hard to pick which ones to get rid of.

Of course, this depends on whether I get around to making some new icons for those fandoms. Which probably won't happen, considering my internet decides to work for about 6 hours every 4 days and I can only get on every few days for about an hour. (I just realized that I wouldn't need the internet to make icons. Just to upload them. I'm le dumb. That's what happens to me when I'm up late. But the other thing still applies.)

Ahh! Running out of batteries! *jostles laptop power cord* There we go. If it's all drained out of juice tomorrow my dad will know I've been on all night and be pissy.

Might beg off of going to gym tomorrow because of accursed stomach bug. (That, plus the fact that I'd have had about 3 hours of sleep by the time my dad wants to go if I fell asleep right now.)

Message to everybody on my friends list: I hate you all. No, I just have been on and off the computer only every once and a while, usually just checking my email and off again. Doubt anybody missed me, but just wanted to say that I'm not trying to give y'all's eljays the cold shoulder.

I just used "y'all's" in a sentence. (And spelled sentence with an A and had to go look it up.) It's time for me to go to bed.
