My thoughts upon opening the Diva Cup I bought so I don't have to mess around with shelling out bazillions of dollars for tampons at school.
"Wow, that's not so big."
My thoughts upon squeezing it into the packaging's recommended fold to use upon insertion.
"HOLY SHIT. That almost seems like it made the actual ere's no way that's going to fit."
Upon trying to insert it.
"Difficult, but not impossible. Just sort of have to move your fingers out of the way and yet stay handsy enough to keep the thing folded."
And then came the required full turn to make sure it's popped open correctly and such.
They make that seem like the easy part. No. I had to pull the thing what felt like halfway out to get my fingers around to where I could grab it sufficiently to turn it. Two fingers + cup > Alexandria's vagina, sorry to say.
But it eventually worked. I'm a little weirded by the stem, so that might get trimmed at some point; it was irritating at first, but now that I'm just sitting here I don't really notice it. I'll have to see what it's like with movement before I decide whether to snip it off bits or not.
I'm just sort of trying to get used to it now. I'm still all screwed up menstrually from the "on the birth control, off the birth control" thing I was doing for a while because of side effects and non-generic woes, so I've been killer irregular. Which means that I've got no idea how long it's going to be until I actually have to use it. Which means I should probably get a feel for it now, rather than during my impossible 10 minute/1.2 mile dash from Human Genetics to Fitness for Living.
And a random thought regarding gas prices. Why, oh why, right before I go off where I won't be driving at all, do you suddenly decide to drop like a rock. Not all last year when I was driving back and forth to the gym and work, but next year, when I'll be off at school and biking everywhere. Also, point of interest, the cheapest gas in St. Louis is a place I pass on the way to the gym--$3.37 a gallon. In Chicago, the cheapest in the entire city (and this is in the suburbs) is more than 50 cents higher. The highest, in the actual city, is more than $1.20 per gallon higher. And to think that I wanted to go to school there. I suppose I wouldn't be driving in Chicago anyway, as CTA is kickass, but still. Ouch.
