Dec. 25th, 2006 08:29 pmWell, that wasn't much fun. Got here Sunday at 2:30am. Grr at that--the 13 hour trip that took 18 hours. Somebody at my dad's work told him that the highway through Louisiana was still sucky, so we went the other way (which is more of a straight line and less of an 'L', so you'd think that it would be shorter) and it ended up being much longer. And we've got to go back up through the long way, as that's the way that goes through where my paternal grandmother lives in Oklahoma, so we can't even learn from the bloody mistake and take the other route.
Had the dvd player working, though, so we were watching a couple of early Xena episodes (yay for "The Xena Scrolls" and "Callisto") and then Tyler had brought the Nintendo, so I played on that for a while.
Dyed my hair Friday night, but it was a horrible mix of the henna, way too watery and dripping down my neck, so I had to stay awake until I could wash it out, because if I went to sleep it would just gunk my bed horridly. So I was washing my hair at 3:30, got out of the shower, looked in the mirror, and it was horrible. Because I only left it on for 5 hours instead of the normal all night (I used to do 5 hours, but quit as I got lazy and it was easier to do it overnight) it was bright bloody orange. It's always bright right after I do it for a few days, but this was probably the worst it's ever been. Probably both because I left it on too shortly and because last time didn't really work, so it was really dyeing on top of two dyeing intervals worth of blondeish. It's somewhat better now, but still pretty orange. When I wash it a bunch it will get better, though. Less matte red/orange and more of the dynamic color that I've usually got.
One thing I discovered when watching those early Xena episodes is that my hair used to be almost exactly the color of first season Gabrielle. Made me laugh, because people ask me what it naturally looks like and I can never find anything to show them.
Went to church yesterday and then again today, which was somewhat annoying. For some reason it was in my head that Christmas was Sunday, so we'd only have to go to church once that week, but of course not. And what is it with Catholic churches always ending with Joy to the World on Christmas? That's like several years in a row in two different states that they did this. It's definitely not even the best one.
Had both Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas dinner at about 3:15 in the afternoon at my mum's second oldest brother's house (whose two oldest kids each had a baby at the end of July, so they were cute), though it was predominantly meat--I had some noodle salad thing and cheesy potato stuff yesterday and only the very last remnants of the noodle salad thing--and it was way too early for me to eat anything, as that's usually when I eat my first meal of the day when I get home from school.
Going to maybe go to a Spanish church sometime during the week just for fun, which should be cool. And aforementioned uncle and matching aunt's present to the three of us niecephews (<- we were lamenting the lack of a word for nieces and nephews yesterday so I decided that this would be it) is to go to some pizza place down by the gulf and then go see that Night in the Museum movie on the IMAX. Besides that, I've got no idea what we're doing. It's sorta boring, because especially when we were eating dinner there wasn't enough room at the dining table so it was all the parents and then the non-parents, which basically made it me, my two siblings, and one cousin that's the age of my younger sister at the one table. And my brother is still young/immature enough to hang out with them easily, but I was most definitely not, so it was pretty much terribly boring (especially considering there wasn't much for me to eat). But they had a big TV, so I watched the Denver Am. football game yesterday (yay, wild card spot) and the Dallas game today and that was enough to keep me from gnawing my own leg off from boredom.
Got an MP3 player thingie for Christmas (which we did on Friday so we could leave early Saturday) a new one that does video, so that's lovely. It's Sandisk's kind, Sansa or something like that. Only 2 gigs, though. I was thinking about trading it up for the 8 gig one, but the two gives you more content time than the life of the battery, so I figured that there really wasn't a point getting a bigger one, as since the only way to charge it up is through a computer (which sucks) you might as well just swap out some of the content then. It keeps freezing on me, though, which is bizarre and annoying because there's no control-alt-delete.
Get this. My grandparents bought their daughter in law's brother (who lives in the same house for some reason) an audio book because he drives a lot for his job. You won't believe this. Ann Coulter's How to Talk to a Liberal. And they weren't even kidding. I would get somebody that just for laughs (I read somebody's Why the Left Hates America last summer just because if you take it with a light heart, they're bloody hilarious) but they did it with all seriousness. *shakes head sadly* My grandad was just on the phone right behind me and saying that he hasn't watched the news since the day after the election. Umm, you suck in that regard. Whatever, you're pissed about the election, but don't you want to know what's going on in the world? I don't really believe him, though, I don't know how you can not watch the news.
So. Laptop's running out of power and brother's bugging me to help him play this Star Trek game he got for Christmas and there's evidently some medical show on TV (yay grandparents having cable) so I'm off.
Peace to you all.
