Ameren UE = incompetent.
They were trying to reroute power through other subthingies and blew the transformer in our back yard. Yeah. Wasn't even the storm that got us, but rather them playing around. I think that means that the electric company people have been watching too much Star Trek. No, just because all B'Elanna has to do is reroute power through something or other to fix the entire ship doesn't mean that you can do it in real life.
So no power for us since 4pm ish yesterday. And then my dumb brother decided that he was too warm last night, so instead of taking off one of his blankets, the moron opened a window. Yeah. Let's think about this. It's 15F outside, there's no heat because there's no power, and he opens a window, letting out whatever heat we had managed to keep trapped in.
So grr. It's not even that I need power so much to keep myself entertained (<- = lies) *giggles because the word 'lies' reminds her of Lisa Edelstein* but that since it gets dark at like 4:30 now, you're pretty much incapacitated after that. Reading with flashlights is hard. And especially because it's a crank flashlight without batteries that's supposed to work for an hour or 30 minutes or something after one minute of cranking. Okay, it does let off some light for that long, but after about 7 minutes it starts getting too dark to read. No fun.
But I hiked down to the library with my dad's laptop and they just got wifi, so I'm sitting in the back by the big bay windows in a comfy chair. And I've got the Cuddy disk of House season 2 (disk 3, I think. I don't really know, I just grabbed it because it had Cuddy. Did I mention that I changed my disks around in the box so that my ships would be lying next to each other? Yeah. *is a geek*) and I can see outside where there's a kinda pretty snowy tree and the cold from the windows mixes well with the fact that it's rather stiflingly hot in here, so it's nice. I'm going to have to do this more often. Not the no power thing, the library thing. I love this place. Sometimes when I go to return books through the little slot through the wall from the outside, I'll just stand there with the slot open and smell the library smell. Because it has one. And I love it like whoa. I wish they could bottle the library smell. I'd buy that. Library smell in a bottle. Yay.
