Goddesses.
Oct. 17th, 2005 12:13 amAnd I love the title of the After Ellen column I've begun to read: "Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever." I want to write for them someday. Maybe the youth section. I'm still thinking about that list of les/bi teen fiction. If I ever find the list I began this summer.
Melissa Etheridge is on everything now. She is a goddess. I almost cried during their interview on (I think) 20/20. She and Tammy were all "I love you", and I'm like "Why can't I find somebody like that."
Kristin Chenoweth has also attained goddess status in my book. She plays a lesbian in the movie adaptation of "Running With Scissors" and the gay singer Dusty Springfield in another movie. Due to this, she was asked not to perform as planned for a Christian Women's group in Oklahoma City in November. Her website says, "She has been asked to withdraw by the organization due to her publicized and heartfelt beliefs that God is accepting of all people on earth. Kristin’s personal views and faith to this effect have not changed, despite the Women of Faith's actions." I'm so going to see those movies. And I will never think of little old Annabeth on "West Wing" the same. Though I have always pictured her as the short Ainsley Hayes. And I do think that Ainsley was a lesbian. I think everything that's ever looked at a women is a lesbian, so maybe that's not so much of a stretch. In my book, they're bisexual until proven otherwise.
Quote from the "Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever." article for July 15th, regarding the Emmys: None of the actors on Queer as Folk received nominations, and neither did Law and Order's Elisabeth Rohm, who promptly asked, "Is it because I'm a lesbian?"
