Worked at my dad's school all afternoon on Tuesday for some competition for all the middle school gifted students in the district. I didn't actually get to see any of them compete, though, which was somewhat disappointing as it sounded like a pretty cool thing -- they wrote skits a while back, memorized them, etc, and when they got to the competition they were given a character, a prop, and a line that they had to work in somehow and they only had a few minutes to figure out how. I believe that may have only been one part of the competition, though, as there seemed to be a lot of different categories that didn't quite seem to fit with what he had told me they did when Dad was announcing the awards. That and his kids (or at least one group of them, I'm not sure how many there were or how it exactly worked) won, so I imagine they were pretty good at it. Problem was that it took a while -- he said we'd be home around 6, we didn't get back until 7:40 at the earliest. And I hadn't gotten much sleep Monday night and had been standing up making popcorn and running things around for hours Tuesday afternoon, so when I got home I decided to take a nap. Nothing strange there. Until I didn't wake up until 3:30am. Ouch. And then I looked at my watch, figured screw it, and went back to sleep. So I didn't have anything done for classes today. Not that I would have done anything anyway, but I had to take two Spanish quizzes over parts of the play I hadn't read (one because I was planning to read it Tuesday night and one because I thought we didn't have to have it read until Thursday but probably would have started Tuesday night anyway had I been awake).

So I missed NCIS and House and everything. Not fun there. I'll have to get those some time.

Tonight we went to our credit union's annual members' meeting thing. Twas at some banquet center thing and I expected thusly the food to be quite good, but it was merely passable. Not bad, but nothing to brag home about. Still. You walk in the door and they give you one of those plastickyacrylic drawstring tote bag things and a magnetic memo board, then they feed you, then they talk for a bit (but it wasn't that long, thankfully), then they introduce everybody, then they do a trivia contest and draw door prizes. We were in first on the trivia the entire time until the music category (which you'd think I'd be good at, but it was all really old popular stuff; they'd give you a line and you'd have to give the next one without even having been given the song or artist) where we ended up down by one and got beaten in the STL Landmarks category (because it was all downtown, where I never go. Seriously, it's sad. I've lived here all my life and I know Chicago better).

Funny thing was, I had been joking the entire time about how the door prizes should have been cash instead of stuff at the credit union meeting (it was totally random-- some wine basket, a garden hose, potpourri and dish, fancy lotion, a container with a bunch of snacks, etc.), and then the trivia prizes were cash. So I made $5 for getting second, which was especially nice considering I knew virtually none of the questions (usually I'm passable, but these were obviously geared for the older crowd; after me and some of the younger bank teller types that worked there, the next youngest was easily my mom, followed by my dad, and besides them I doubt there was anybody under 60) and was of little help at all. That and two muffin tins and a box of blueberry muffin mix from the door prize. So. Five bucks, a bag and memo board, and muffins; I'd say that was a good haul.

Talked to my old US history teacher today and asked him if he knew of any political cartoons that I could use for this dumb research paper I've got to do for history. Because he always had cartoons to illustrate stuff (because that was what was on all the tests and he wanted to prepare us. Which he did well. Looking back, he was probably my favorite teacher that year for sheer volume of stuff learned) and I was having trouble finding a good one. As my teacher of this year strongly suggested that we have one as part of our bazillion required sources. The whole assignment is crap. It wouldn't bother me so much if he didn't insist on calling it a Document Based Question, which implies an essay with 5-8 sources given to you which you use to support your given topic that you should be able to write in about 50 minutes (as it was on the US History test and will be on the History of the Americas test), and not a research paper with a given topic and 5-8 sources we've got to go find. When he calls it a DBQ it makes it sound like it's okay that he assigned this big, high point valued paper to be done in a week right before the huge finals start.

On that note. Looked at my calendar thing today and freaked out. Evidently my math tests are only in a week and a half and chemistry in two. Holyfuck. I had no idea. I've been trying to keep my head above (as these next two or three weeks are frakking hell every year in every class) in my non-hugeassfinals classes and not really reviewing at all for the ones with said finals. So I'm going to go die now.

Umm, kay. Upon rewatching the preview for the next House episode? My mum was wrong when she said she thought Cuddy was hugging House. Really wrong. (Which is fine with me, because frankly, we got enough House/Cuddy in the last episode.) Uhh, I think it's Chase. Could be Wilson, like some think, but I'm thinking not. He doesn't look quite right for Wilson. Something about the neck/shoulders. And the hair is too light. Ha. Chase has moved from ass kissing (or as I crudely phrased it a few weeks ago, walking around with his lips firmly fastened around House's dick) to intimate physical contact. Meaning, perhaps, that Cameron blabbed whatever secret to Chase? Popular theory on [livejournal.com profile] house_wilson holds that the secret is that House is gay. Dunno why Cameron couldn't tell anyone, but that's their theory. And I've as such extended that theory to explain the Chasehug. Chase=rather flamboyantly bisexual. And has a thing for House. Cameron: "Chase. House is gay." Chase: "OMGWTF No way! Yesyesyesyes!!" *hugs him, partially in sorrow because House is so closeted, partially to initiate hotgaysecks.*

Re: House.

I'm liking how they're trying to get back to normal type episodes again. Though it wasn't terrific, IMO, because they had a bunch of stuff going on right after they were like "Oh, that's impossible!" and then didn't explain it at all. Didn't explain anything, really. It's like on the real medical shows on Discovery Health where they try to pass a plebeian explanation off on the viewers for whatever because if they went any more complicated, the dumb people wouldn't get it, but don't realize that their dumb explanation (while satisfying the people who don't know anything/don't try to actually make sense of it) makes no sense to the people who have passed basic high school biology.

*Refrains from blabbing exactly what happened.* Let's just say that if you are a fan of any of three very popular (het, of course *growls*) ships, you're going to be ecstatic, either from the episode itself or the previews for the next one. I, on the other hand? Guh. Though there were some good lines. "You're the person here I'm least likely to fall in love with." LOL at that one, because it made me happy. Mostly because this means that Cuddy ranks higher than Chase on Cameron's fall-in-love list.

And, umm, I think Cameron forgot how bad the sex was with Chase. That was the funny thing about their whole encounter, how he was like "I know bad sex, and this wasn't it," and Cameron's like *refrains from comment*. And then later, with the whole needing a sperm sample from the patient and Cameron being all "Too bad it isn't you we need the sample from. We'd be done by now." That made me assume that the sex sucked. And now this? Evidently the meth makes her memory fuzzy after more than a few months.

What was with Cuddy's date analyzing her like he knows her? Umm, no. And Lisa E? Sorry, hun, but you've really got to keep your club kid/valley girl crap out of the actual episodes, because your odd delivery screwed up a couple of lines this ep.

Foreman's kinda a whore. Being mean to Cameron again. *pokes him.*

I don't deny that the interpersonal stuff and lines resulting thereof in this ep had me out of my seat several times. Back and forth from eww to yay, but still.

Next episode is exciting me, though. What could House's secret be that Wilson knows and Cameron finds out that would make Cuddy and Cameron do that?

Yeah, I just realized that the end of that last sentence makes the ep sound much more interesting/exciting than it will actually be, if you catch my drift. They're doing separate 'that's. Unfortunately.

And random curses at the writers for Jossing me a bit. Valentine's Day night fic where they're stuck covering the ER? Kinda the basis for the one I started at volleyball on Sunday. Though they were only there for like the first two minutes. Still.

But umm, in conclusion? Valentine's Day doesn't mean that they had to try to satisfy every shipper of every het ship possible over this and the next episode. Though were they to try to satisfy every shipper of every ship, I'm thinking I'd be fine with it.

Oh yeah. And, umm, Crossing Jordan? Caught the last two minutes of it. Literally. And they still had me somewhere between really sad and bouncydancyhappy. To be quite general (though I don't think I have any particularly big Crossing Jordan fans on my flist), because they killed one half of one of my pairings on there. Which was sad. But the other, erm, non-dead half was sobbing over the dead half. And I hear from spoilers that somebody so inconsiderately posted in a comment on NigelBlog (on a back entry, not even on a response to this week's) that dead-half was all like "I'm sorry, forgive me, I love you!" after she got. . . erm, to be really general, pre-deaded. (To be not so general, shot. But that was kind of expected, because in a crime drama, you sort of figure that's the most common way of killing off a character.)

But they were like "Riots in Boston" on this news thing they showed the characters watching bits of at the end, and I was all like "What, did the Yankees beat the Sox at home or something?" Which then made me laugh.

More on that to come, (most probably squeeage because of the pairinglove) after I find and watch the episode. I've got to watch last week's first (as I do volleyball every week when it airs), but that's downloading as we speak, so yay for that.

And yay, House on Tuesday. *Counts down episodes till 3.16!* Seriously, I don't think there's been this much speculation about the spoilers for an episode since all the talk for the half a season leading up to "No Reason". Maybe even not then.

*Needs Crossing Jordan icon for vaguely aforementioned pairing that was taken down from here and then lost during hard drive crisis number 1.*
*Settles for House icon, because that was mentioned here too.*

I've been thinking about what I want from this season of House. I posted about it earlier in the summer on the House MD boards, saying basically that I wanted:

1. Less blatant shippage, such as House/Cuddy needlebutt and Cameron/Chase drugsex (though both Cuddy's butt and high!Cameron were hot), and more subtext.

2. Less bad medicine and more. . . good medicine (not to get into the whole Ketamine thing again, but GRR!).

3. Cuddy pregnant would be amazing. I admit, I have something of a pregnant!Cuddy fetish. I do not, however, want the baby to be conceived through a collaboration with any of the male doctors at the hospital. I think that using the sperm of someone she knows will cause TPTB to make the male try to help her raise the child, while it would be a more interesting story line if they made her go it alone. And Cuddy as a single mom would just add to the amazingness that she is. I'd rather they not made her pregnant than used the sperm of a character on the show.

But I was thinking today, and decided that, though those 3 are my top, I would really love it if Cameron called Cuddy 'Lisa'. In the two seasons, they've gone from barely speaking at all in season one to antagonistic conversations in season two, and I'd like to see them getting to be at least somewhat closer. The actresses seem to be, if not friends, then friendly, so the acting wouldn't be too much of a stretch. And I'm not even just coming at that through a Cameron/Cuddy shipper's POV (though if they wanted to skip all that and just make out, I'd be fine with that too), I think it'd be nice to have these two female doctors in this cutthroat world working together.

Anyway. As usual, I'm up way too late and with our Amnesty meeting tomorrow I'll only be home for maybe two hours before House starts, not long enough to do my homework or get a nap.
