Me: I might take Educational Psychology this year, mum.

Her: Why? It's boring, don't take it. I've taken it, it's horrible.

Me: Well, it sounded okay. And I might need it. I'm thinking of minoring in education.

Her: *looks at me somberly* Don't go into education, Alexandria.

LOLOLOL. That from a teacher.

I can seriouslyseriously see myself doing it, though.

But idk if that's because I'd actually like it (I'm pretty sure I would, because I like kids, but it would always not be my first choice thing, I think) or because I'm afraid of going for medicine and failing and just want to take the easy way instead of risking that. Prolly a combination.

Every single teacher I've met has told me the same thing- don't go into education. It's disheartening.

I'm doing educational psychology this semester, also.

It is. I mean, the government really wants to get good new teachers? Find out what's making all the existing ones badmouth going into education and fix that.

Rly? I still don't know what I'm taking, LOL. Prolly only one thing, though, as since I'm going to be part timeing it, I can't (I think) get any kind of financial aid.

You'll have to tell me how it goes.

Well, I just had my first Edu Psych lesson and we have to build a website. Holy crap, I thought I signed up for Education, not Computing!

Jeeze. The first time a kid comes up to you and asks you a question about math, are you going to say "Wait, I haven't yet built my website outlining my educational goals for the class!"? No. That's quite odd. In Edu Website Building, perhaps, but Psych? Interesting.

LOL.

I've been told I'd make a good teacher, because kids seem to flock to me and I have patience for them (siblings, as always, are an exception), and enjoy being around them, but idk. And I don't think I could ever be a high school teacher.

Oh, given. LOL. But yeah, I like kids. And little elementary school ones? Love. Hugs every day, presents from them on Christmas, them thinking you're the coolest thing ever because you can read? That's excellent.

Urgh, high school. Though my mum and dad both say that middle school is worse, because by high school kids tend to have things a bit more figured out.

Oh, excellent indeed. I love the younger types. Our street's full of them (my sister's out there everyday doing god knows what with an army of them down at the one remaining block of land), but I only really know three sisters that live two houses down. They're 6, 7 and... 10. It's funny, because the youngest is the same height as the oldest, and the middle one looks like she's four or five.
Anyway. The youngest, Holly, often tags along with mum, Claire and I when we go for a drive to the shops in Kalamunda and stuff. She's adorable. Whenever she sees me out the front she'll come tearing down the street screaming "CATHARENNN!" and glomp me. IT'S SO CUTE. and idk why, even, because all I'd ever really done was... be nice. Say hello and yell at my brother when he was annoying them, stuff like that. Tis nice, though, to be liked like that. I remember when I was little I found teenagers somewhat intimidating :\
Together the three of them are a disaster waiting to happen, though. You can hear them squawking from up the street, lol. My mum's suggested I babysit them sometime, but seeing as I barely made it out alive after being dragged from room to room on the "tour" of their house... yeah, I'll have to think about it.

*sigh* children. Such life.

Yeah, that I can imagine. But then you've got your high school kids who are all big for their boots, with the attitude and all that. I'm guessing it'll be great if you make a good impression, and are one of those teachers who're like a friend to their students. But urgh indeed. I think I'd be too soft a teacher for those ages, heh.

And I have to thank you, Alexandria, for putting "primary school teacher" on my list of possible careers again! :P

OH. Another reason to teach little kids? There isn't much chance of you teaching the wrong thing, lol. How hard could it be, revising the alphabet or rattling off the times tables?
