Definitely. A couple of our senators have some pretty promising democratic opposition too, so this could turn out well.

There were only about 12 of us and so we'd go to the park and things, or out for coffee.

That does sound nice. The GSA that was at my school my freshmanish year (before it died and it's replacement died too) was pretty much like that.
